A Gentle Unfolding Circling and Spiralling into Meaning / Judith Scully
[9780648804413]

$25.95
Products Qty: 175

This is a book about vocation, written by a once-upon-a-time religious Sister.  The years following the Second Vatican Council were critical ones in the development of the Australian Catholic Church when, encouraged by the proliferation of small Gospel groups, lay women began feeling their way into new ministries.  A Gentle Unfolding is the story of one of those women.  In easy-to-read chapters, Judith Scully writes of the ministry possibilities that came and sometimes went and the challenges remaining if the Church is to appreciate the giftedness of women's spirituality.

I think this is an important historical document, not just a lovely book to read, a story that we need to remember and to know, so that we too can remember where we've come from and know where we are going.  - Dr Bernadette Miles, Kardia Foundation

The chronicle of Judith's life is a framework for sharing her experiences in, observations and suggestions for the Catholic Church, and this makes it a particularly timely book for the Australian Church in the current moment of crisis or perhaps renewal. - Council for Australian Catholic Women

About the Author

Judith Scully left religious life in the years following the Second Vatican Council.  A Gentle Unfolding is about a vocation that was never lost, but kept on unfolding through marriage, children, her husband's death from Motor Neuron Disease and nearly two decades as a pastoral associate in Catholic parishes.  Now retired, she lives among the gum trees in North Warrandyte on Melbourne's rural fringe where she writes Words from the Edge.com.
